SOLD The Raggeds are a mountain range just about equidistant between Telluride and Aspen. This rugged and mostly unsettled high country is visually stunning - snow-capped a good part of the year, where elk, moose, deer, bear, and many other wild creatures find shelter and safety.
"Color Study II" - Rag tapestry, based on a rug weaving workshop at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.
Rich reds, greens, and a dash of pale aqua, all in different weights and textures, with Turquoise from top to bottom. This tapestry included cotton, wool blend, polyester and rayon fiber (rags) similar to Color Study I, but added some large polished Turquoise beads at the bottom, as well as "A River Runs Through It" string of small turquoise stones in the lower third of the tapestry. A ruffle made from a girl's cotton blouse, with a large Turquoise bead, adds texture at the top. Braided fringe at bottom, with stitched hem at top to hold a strong wooden dowel for hanging.
Altogether a fun piece to weave, amplifying and embellishing some of the techniques from the original Color Study I.
Custom Orders are welcomed, particularly when we can work together with family fabrics and personal relics to tell a story about a person or special event. Prices determined by size and complexity of the work. 22" width - $40/sq.ft. 30" width - $60 sq.ft.
