Mother Bear and Her Cub - Felted Art

Regular price $140.00 Sale

An idyllic scene from the Grand Mesa of Colorado - a mother bear and her cub - camouflaged by the surrounding mountain forest - look closely to find them!.

When hiking in our local mountains, I occasionally see bears from a distance, but we (the dogs and I) have been fortunate enough not to trespass too near a mother and her cub. Once, near Mesa Top on the Grand Mesa, we saw someone (obviously not from the mountains) getting dangerously close to a cub, not knowing that the mother was surely nearby and very protective! Shouted her away from what might have been a very serious encounter. Scary.

Wet felted and needle felted by hand. Materials are studio-dyed wools - North Country Cheviot, Navajo Churro and some wisps of Curly Mohair. Much of the wool is dyed with plant-based materials. Very textured, tactile.

Cottagecore for sure! Original work made by hand in my studio on "The Mesa", inspired by the sometime-sightings of bears against the changing colors of the four seasons landscape.

Mounted on an 11" x 14" frame, ready to hang - home or office.

A memorable birthday or holiday gift.

A favorite hiking trail on the Mesa: Two sets of bear claw marks on an aspen tree: low for cub? higher for mother teaching her baby to climb?

Serious bear claw marks!
