This work springs from my love of brilliant colors, particularly when juxtaposed against a snowy winter landscape or a minimalist home interior.
The featured vessel is wet felted by hand, with eight layers of roving to insure sturdy durability. Size is approximately 6 1/2" tall, and 10" at its widest, deliberately asymmetrical center.
Materials are natural cream color Colorado Navajo Churro and Cheviot fleece, dyed in brilliant reds, from Cochineal (an insect found on cactus plants in Southwestern deserts) and other additions. The gold color is derived from gathering and boiling Rabbit Brush, a native plant of Colorado and much of the Southwest. The greens are from aspen and a blend of wildflowers.
